The Art of Photography

Photography is an art that many are getting more involved with. So many people get a nice, new digital camera, learn some settings and an editing program, and can start a business taking pictures. It can be something that people are passionate about, or just to do as a hobby. Some people, like my friend Carol Rhees, are learning the tricks of the trade at a higher level. She is minoring in it at college.
Not only does Carol do digital photography, she has a passion for film photography. Most people today have switched over to digital, but actually taking pictures with film and developing them is a real treat for Carol. She still loves to do the whole process, from taking the pictures, going into a dark room for a few hours, and coming out with the end result of a picture she took and developed.
I got to follow Carol as she did this process. I never realized the depths it took to produce such a product. This is definitely a time-consuming activity, but the results, whether good or bad, are instantaneous. It is an intriguing process as well. As someone who has never seen it done, all of it was new to me. I still don't quite understand how it works, but watching it all with a few pointers and tips was very intriguing. This truly is an art that some people are helping stay alive.

Alaskan People

In my last podcast about Alaska, I talk about the most special part: the people. Alaskans truly are a different type of people, the biggest difference being on how much pride we show for our state.

Running at Night Dangers

I follow BYU-I student Celina Allen as she goes running at night, by herself. This can be a problem that most people don't think twice about, as far as their personal safety goes. I also explore ways to make the situation better, such as running during the day and with a partner.

Traveling in Alaska

My next podcast about Alaska. A major part of living or visiting Alaska deals with traveling. You have to travel quite a distance to get there, and once you are there you have to travel a lot within the state. I talk about how large Alaska is and how that affects traveling. I also go into traveling to or from there just a little bit.
